Introduction
Decks of crude oil tankers, product tankers and chemical carriers are classified as flammable and explosive hazardous zones. The atmosphere filled with volatile oil gas imposes mandatory explosion-proof specifications for all deck lifting equipment.

To address general operational demands of liquid cargo vessels including compact deck layout, explosion-proof compliance and marine anti-corrosion performance, Kuli Machinery has launched an explosion-proof jib crane tailored for tanker deck service. This model integrates and implements standard technical requirements covering explosion-proof criteria, marine anti-corrosion treatment and load self-locking against vessel rolling, delivering standardized lifting supporting solutions for new shipbuilding and vessel retrofitting projects.
General Operating Limitations for Tanker Deck Equipment
Mandatory explosion-proof compliance
Flammable oil vapors persist on liquid cargo vessel decks. Conventional lifting cranes equipped with electric motors or regular hydraulic assemblies may generate electric sparks or high-temperature surfaces, failing to meet ATEX, IECEx and classification society Zone 2 standards. Explosion-proof lifting units are therefore compulsory.
Severe marine corrosion conditions
Exposed open decks are subject to heavy salt spray year-round. Standard industrial explosion-proof equipment without marine-grade anti-corrosion coating will suffer rapid corrosion of steel structures and sealing components during long-term offshore service.
Restricted deck space
Tanker decks are densely arranged with pipelines and valves, calling for compact crane designs. Additionally, mechanical self-locking structure is required to prevent load sliding when the vessel rolls.
Dual certification threshold
Equipment must satisfy both marine classification society rules and international explosion-proof standards. Qualified deck cranes with dual certification are relatively limited on the market.
